5 Trends in Natural Cosmetics

Every year, the makeup industry develops new and improved formulations of their popular products.  Currently, one of the hottest trends is natural cosmetics.  Rapidly gaining in popularity, natural cosmetics are taking the makeup industry by storm – and for good reason.

1.      Going organic

Many women are starting to go organic with the foods that they eat and the cleaning products that they use.  It is no wonder that they are also considering organics for their beauty products.  Organic and natural cosmetics, just like other organic products, do not include synthetic or man-made ingredients.  Many also avoid animal testing.  This makes natural cosmetics extremely popular with those women who are health and environment conscious.

2.      Natural colors

Another trend in natural cosmetics is natural colors.  Natural colors are very popular, since many natural cosmetics are designed to give a natural look, instead of a “made up” one.  Pigments are often derived from vegetables, fruits, herbs, and minerals.  With natural cosmetics, your berry-colored lipstick might actually get its coloring from real berries.

3.      Natural ingredients

Another trend in natural cosmetics is to opt for natural ingredients.  Traditional cosmetics often include manmade ingredients to create the consistency and bonding that the makeup needs in order to be easy to apply and wear well.  However, natural cosmetics use organic oils, minerals, clays, and other natural ingredients to have the same effect.

4.      Eliminating toxins

Many women are experiencing a growing concern about toxins that are being found in items that are used every day.  It seems that on nearly a daily basis, the medical or scientific community finds yet another commonly-used chemical that has been linked to cancer, birth defects, or debilitating diseases.  However, many of these ingredients are used in the products that we have come to depend on, like makeup, personal care products, and cleaners.  However, by choosing natural cosmetics, women can make an effort to help reduce or even eliminate their exposure to these toxins.

5.      Reduce allergens

Another common problem with traditional cosmetics is that women with sensitive skin can have a hard time wearing them without experiencing a reaction.  Some traditional cosmetics will make acne and other skin breakouts worse.  Natural cosmetics, on the other hand, have removed many of the chemical irritants.  As an added bonus, the natural ingredients found in natural cosmetics can actually be beneficial for skin.  Mineral makeup, for example, is rapidly growing in popularity and has been shown to help heal skin and reduce redness.  In fact, even women with Rosacea have been able to wear mineral makeup beautifully.

If you are looking to try natural cosmetics, there is one thing to remember – as of yet, there is no set standard for natural cosmetics.  Be sure to do your homework and learn how to read ingredient labels before purchasing to make sure that you are indeed enjoying natural cosmetics ingredients.  Doing research on different natural cosmetic companies before you buy can help you to decide which ones are the best and offer the best skin care products for your needs.

Win a Free Pixel Perfect Powder

No need to add a Box or Chip for HDTV. Look Flawless Everyday
We have created a powder that will make you HDTV ready every day!  Try our new “Pixel Perfect Finishing Silk” for a Flawless Look without adding a chip or HDTV ready box.

This powder is very smooth to the touch and has the effect of a skin perfecting powder.

The powder is extremely fine and created for the very purpose of meeting the needs of digital imagery. It is currently available in one multi user shade-which will look white in the jar, but will go on completely transparent. This powder is talc-free and formulated with 100% silica.

The spherical micro-beads will give your skin a matte, “soft focus” effect. This powder was created to soften the appearance of blemishes, fine lines, and imperfections. Perfect for those of you who need or want camera-ready skin or a flawless look all day every day. Currently we have one universal  translucent shade for all skin tones.  Larger companies our selling a similar powder for double and triple the price!

A Personal Note - I have found that the lightest touch of this powder is all that is necessary.  If you feel slightly chalky or look to pale after applying this, just give your face a quick spritz with our Facial Setting Spritz.  It will look and feel flawless in seconds.

How to test on your skin when buying a sample size
Apply your foundation and blush and then the tester powder with a light touch to get a matte finish to your skin without changing its natural color. Do not use with any other finishing powders at this time, just test it with your foundation & blush at this point! You can apply it with a sponge but, be sure to apply sparingly. I prefer using a brush similar to our Flawless Face Brush or Lil Dude for application at this time. You don’t want to buff it into your skin like you do the foundation, you just want to add a nice light layer to the top of you skin. The powder is very fine so be aware that less is better when dipping your brush into the powder as it will fly around!

Win a FREE Pixel Perfect Finishing Silk - Just leave a comment below on your other favorite Mineral Silk Product(s) and you will be entered into a drawing on December 13th for a Free Full Size “Pixel Perfect” Powder!

This is what others have given us for feedback so far -

Unbelievable, My wedding pictures look like my skin turned to porcelain! Love it, when can I buy some?

The powder worked great I love how smooth my skin feels!

Little drying for my aging skin if I over apply it. I added some directly to my foundation and it feels wonderful and less drying this way.

Love IT!  My skin is flawless looking for the first time in years!

WOW, this is just like the name brand high def powder. I hope you can sell it for less than they do as I will buy it by the gallon!

Perfection is an understatement! Love it! A little messy at times but, worth it for the look.

As long as I keep it away from my dry under eyes it works perfect.

I am a woman of color and this works great on my deep colored, oily skin! Although it might be nice to have it slightly tinted!

I like to apply it with my Kabuki as the brush hairs seem to hold it better, it also then mixes with my foundation the next time I apply it and makes my face feel smooth!

That Sunny Glow
Say goodbye to dry, dull winter skin. Literally!

The tools:
- baby oil
- bar of Ivory soap
- loofah mitt

I got this tip from Lola Red about shedding drab skin and revealing your inner glow. Hollywood starlets have been doing it for years, and here I am to share the secret. (DISCLAIMER: This may be a cheap trick, but it can be incredibly messy!)

I have never done this but, when my kids and husband are out of the house for awhile I will break out the Loofah and maybe go for the shower instead of the tub.  I dont want to have to scrub the tub for hours afterwards as it brings back to many memories of taking a bath after my mom soaked in Baby Oil.  I was 12 at the time and jumped in the tub when she was finished to wash my hair, unfortunately when I went to dry it,  all of the left over baby oil was stuck to my hair.  I had to hurry as we were going to a wedding and didn’t have time to rewash it, my mom said it looked fined.  But, when I looked in the bathroom mirror at the reception it looked like I had not washed my hair for weeks. It was devastating and I refused to take baths for 3 years after that.  I stuck to showers and rinsed multiply times!  Today, I just stay away from oil period in any form in my tub!  Not just because of the hair thing but I now fear slipping and killing my self in the tub!

The trick:
1. Fill your bathtub with hot water.
2. Place a towel on the floor next to the tub.
3. Strip down and load your body with baby oil.
4. Dip the Ivory soap and loofah into the water, then rub together to coat the loofah with the soap.
5. Standing or sitting on the towel, start at your feet and scrub every inch of your hot bod until your skin is pink. (You will obviously want to load up the loofah with Ivory numerous times during the process.)
6. Once you have scrubbed to the max, slide into the warm tub and watch the dull, drab skin slip off! (Note: The bath water will be disgusting. You, on the other hand, will be a stunner!)
7. Slather yourself with fab self-tanner for some faux glow!

My Niece was married this month and I was lucky enough to be asked to do her makeup.  I love chatting with all of you that visit our website and creating colors and products can be so much fun but, one of my favorite things to do is apply Makeup.

I love watching the transformation take place on someones face.  My Niece is a beautiful girl without a stitch of makeup, but to see her on her wedding day with her hair up, makeup done and her wedding gown on was a breathtaking transformation.

Speaking of transformations, how did this little girl go from walking down
the aisle 19 years ago  with her cousin (my stepson) on my wedding day turn into
the beautiful Bride Below?

Where does time go?

I have added some photos for you to view and wish all of you a “beautiful day every day”!

 The Makeup Artist Table

Applying Eye Shadow

Close up of Eyes before False lashes are applied.

Foundation, Finishing Silk, Color Booster, Eyes and now a small amount of lip liner.
Gloss will be added once the dress is on!

The Bride is Ready and isn’t she beautiful!

Here’s a Close Up!

Foundation - Mixture of Natural Buff, Radiance and I added some Cherub Dust for a glow.
Afterglow on the Cheeks, Chin, and Nose
Highlighting layer of Cherub Dust on the upper cheeks
On the eye - I added a layer of Oyster from lid to below brow, then added Amethyst with a hint of Medallion in the crease.  Then Highlighted with Oyster below the brow bone again and in the corners of the eye. I then added a wet liner of Amethyst after she drew in a line with her waterproof liner to show me how thick she wanted the line.  A few lashes on the corners a little liner on the lips, mascara and some gloss make for a lovely bride.

Also in honor of Nicole’s Wedding I am creating a Mineral Makeup Bridal Kit with the colors that were used on her for the wedding.  You will be able to choose your own foundation but the rest of the kit will be pre-made and ready to go!
